Ever wondered how 82 Bakeshop became one of the best dessert shops in Saskatoon? I have too. I'm still not 100% sure how we became so successful that we could open our second location in Regina.

    1. Product Evaluation

    If you look at the product lineup from day one, it looks quite different now. Even though we adored our products, we had to objectively assess the flavour, shape, texture, and more to ensure they met our high standards.

    Being unbiased can be tough, so we asked our staff and customers for their honest feedback. We still adjust oven time, temperature, or resting periods to ensure perfection in every bite.

    2. Consistent Market Research

    As we mentioned in the previous blog post, we travel every year to different countries and cities for market research. We visit the most famous dessert shops and compare their desserts with ours. Surprisingly, we found that there are not many dessert places that live up to the hype. We are glad that we can provide the best dessert experience for those who haven't had the chance to experience food abroad.

    Exposure to the broader world broadens our horizons and gives us great ideas that can benefit the community!

     

    3. Continuous Recipe Enhancement

    In the beginning, my wife had to go through trial and error for the recipes with limited resources. She didn't have anyone to ask if there was something she wanted to improve. It taught her how to handle desserts in various circumstances, but it took her a lot of time to learn crucial skills.

    Now, we value time over money. Every year, we research trending desserts and if they sell their recipes. Even if they cost more than $1000 for the recipe, we buy them at least twice a year to improve our understanding of desserts and not remain stagnant. After we decided to explore dairy-free/gluten-free desserts, we purchased multiple recipes. We had to go through some adjustments due to the availability of ingredients for the texture and flavors, but it saved us time and raised the quality as they are already proven on the other side of the universe.

    We hope to continuously improve even when we are satisfied with our success. We are here to solve problems that our customers have. Now, we hope to reach many people who deserve delicious desserts even with their dietary restrictions.
